Artist Statement

Inspired by the surrounding vendors and neighboring local shops, I created custom image panels for the public waste receptacles along the main pedestrian street in Lawrence, KS, a college town. Some of the compositions create the photographic illusion of being blended into the river rock decorative panels. Others appear to be lit from within and filled with unusual substance. Discarded ant farms, fabric and holiday decorations, melting ice cream and local tree roots adorn the functional trash cans, turning them into sculptural objects.
